A should or ought is Gnostic not. Holders of the Holy Gnosis *can* be vegetarians, as they have no boss, and they answer directly to the ULTIMATE. If the Gnostic shuns the meats, then the Gnostic shuns the meats. If the Gnostic eats the meats, the Gnostic eats the meats. Gnostics ought as Gnostics are. Their HUNGER is for a different kind.
Woe to he who 'ought's' or 'nots' the Gnostic! SHOULD Gnostics do this? SHOULD Gnostics do that? There is one TRUTH that needs mentioning, and that is that THERE ARE NO ABSOLUTE TRUTHS IN GNOSIS. The Gnostic needs not your subscriptions and prescriptions of what foods to eat and not eat; did the Christ-Master not dismiss this as madness in the HOLY TWIN'S GOSPEL? The holy TRUTH is merely the fact-that-is, and that is what my Master taught me, what IS. All deviations from truth, all your ought's and nots, are DOGMAS to be burnt with the FIRE OF THE ULTIMATE on the DAY OF JUDGEMENT. Believe not, slaves of your dogmas, but KNOW SO!
But, to nicer things. We also know from our Gnostic teachings that a divine element, the BREATH OF THE ULTIMATE, resides within and animates all things. This element exists not in isolated bits but a continuous flow which stretches out and covers the surface of all creation, but it can be found in higher concentrations - for instance, in the Gnostic. Between planets, where this BREATH is not conducted by elements but subject to VOID, the BREATH subsides beneath the surface of space and finds its font elsewhere in the LIFE FORCE of living existence, or the KOSMOS. The BREATH is this LIFE FORCE. Every creature of ULTIMATE under the Sun (or, suns/stars/comets/planets/angels/aliens) is the microcosmic spirit-spasm of the ULTIMATE through His holy BREATH. The Gnostic aims by spiritual practice to concentrate these sparks of BREATH in themselves and thus become the more complete microcosm of the ULTIMATE. Therefore, I have taught my students the value of the BLOOD FEAST, or the eating of large numbers of animals, in their entirety. In this feats-of-eating might the lost BREATH be consolidated in concentration, and utilized by the Gnostic as REAL SPIRITUAL MANNA. The sleeping GOD FORCE in those animals becomes a potent source of divine ENERGY for the Gnostic.But these TRUTHS remain closed to the eyes who see not, and the minds who think not, and the fingers that grasp not!
What IS good? All that heightens the feeling of power in man, the will to power, power ITSELF. What is bad? All that is BORN OF WEAKNESS. What is happiness? The feeling that power is GROWING, that resistance is overcome.

Interesting. Early this morning while I was sleeping, I had a dream in which I was telling a man, "You should not should on yourself."
now That is interesting - clairvoyance...
Although I realise the person was probably at least half-trolling, there's a certain dance to what they say that is like a refreshing cool breeze.
Not only reminiscient of the exuberance of Nietzsche, but also of a type of Gnostic from a by-gone era that most modern neo-Gnostics shudder to think about.
